landscape vol. I: the forest

"Forestes, the most important influence for "Centre of Wood" label, of every kind and in every part of the world, are a magic place where to get lost and then find our deep relation with the nature. 14 bands from the acoustic, drone, lo-fi and free folk underground called to rappresent through music their relation with these places. The result is this cd-r that contains more than 60 minutes of weird music. The projects and the bands involved are : Tim Coster; Donato Epiro; Nebelung; Vapaa; Chora; Aalto; throuRoof; Eyes like Saucers; The Katie Winter; Belly Boat; Prague; Es; Las Vegas Club; We Wait for the Snow. Listening to this compilation is like getting lost in a immense green forest, walking through its trees, meet the eyes of its creatures...The packaging is composed of a brown and green heavy cardboard, closed with a small branch and a brown cotton thread, with an insert in perfect d.i.y. old style. limited to 120 numbered copies" centre of wood

belly boat

belly boat - dear robert handy (not not fun 2007)
"All aboard, gang. After 23 months of back-and-forth and waiting/wondering, Zoe and Silvie have finally docked the debut Belly Boat album in nnf harbor, and we are beyond happy about it. Dear Robert Hanoy is a scratchy, expansive masterpiece, 14 sung songs of outsider ragtime, rambling European café waltz, and charismatic lyrical chemistry. Influenced equally by Cocorosie, Celine Dion, and Chamillionaire (circa “Ridin’ Dirty”), Belly Boat weave piano, accordion, and dueling voices into a freaky, frayed woolen mitten of strange emotions. Put it on, feel weird, throw a snowball. This is a storybook soundtrack for barefoot exploration and natural wonder, culled from years of face-painting, taking pictures of horses, and making best friends laugh. CDs come with full-color 8-panel booklets of artwork by Belly Boat, in sleeves sewn with grunge flannel, strung with grey yarn/clear beads, and flecked with gold dust." nnf

"If Willy Wonka and Sergeant Pepper had two test-tube-baby lovechildren, raised them up and gave them a piano and an accordion, Belly Boat would be the result. Smelling like teen spirit in a way that has nothing to do with Nirvana and everything to do with girlish memories of the Teen Spirit era and sleepovers, Zoe Latta and Silvie Deutsch could easily convince even the biggest skeptic that aliens have not only landed on earth but have taken the form of teenage girls with a knack for weird, catchy tunes and are now trying to take over the world with simple instruments (and the infantry support of Not Not Fun) as their only weapons. maravillosas, pero...como ocurre con cientos de miles de discos y millones de grupos, Dear Robert Handy se quedará en el olvido. por eso se creó Not Not Fun records, una auténtica tienda de golosinas que de vez en cuando saca a la luz cosas tan bonitas como Belly Boat (y que en breve publicará un split de Christina Carter con Pocahaunted). ojalá disfrutéis estas mini operetas con pianos y acordeones que dejan un regustillo delicioso a ferias carnivalescas y tabernas tanto como yo. supuestamente sus influencias van desde Mariah Carey y Celine Dion hasta Leonard Cohen, Frederic Chopin, Nina Simone, Robert Hanoy, Nina Hartley y (su versión menos glamourosa y petarda) Cocorosie. preciosa November: el olor a almendras garrapiñadas flota en el aire...
(en su myspace podéis escuchar dos canciones. y aquí leer una entrevista)
