for lee jackson in space

"This tribute album came together in love and honor of Lee Jackson, writer, music fan, dear friend, who passed in late March 2012 after a struggle with ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease. This collection of songs, nearly all of which are new or previously unreleased, comes from the many bands and musicians who Lee not only covered and celebrated with such passion, but also in many cases befriended over many years of correspondence, concert and festival attendance and more. 12 hours of music/94 bands (including contributions from Valerio Cosi, Six Organs Of Admittance, Charalambides, Pelt, Roy Montgomery, Helena Espvall, Head of Wantastiquet, Charlatan, Tara Burke, Mike Tamburo, Theo Angell, R Keenan Lawler, etc.)

The album's liner notes contain full information about each song as well as thoughts from Lee himself about the contributing artists, taken from his writing work. All profits will go to the Texas chapter of the ALS Association. Please feel free to join our Facebook discussion group if you'd like to learn more about the remarkable man who we all dearly miss; there is also a direct link to this album in Facebook itself"

On June 5th, Brad Rose from Foxy Digitalis interviewed Travis Johnson, Mats Gustafsson, and Ned Raggett. These guys compiled the monolithic compilation "For Lee Jackson In Space"

head of wantastiquet

"Head Of Wantastiquet is the alter ego of Paul Labrecque, an American musician, songwriter now residing in Belgium. He has recorded with Chris Corsano and Valerie Webb, and he plays and records with the bohemian group Sunburned Hand Of the Man. Historically, aesthetically and sonically his new work bears genuinely comparison with merican primitivism', a mix of psychedelic banjo hymns, apocalyptic space folk and incredible drugged out soul-whispers. It layers banjos, guitars and smoke as though they were shimmering veins of black pearls, pulsing against the scarlet dawn." conspiracy
"...we need to learn how to fly. The birds know it. The albatross, as if painting a flawless hyper-realistic seascape, crosses the ocean without rippling the water. Slow-motion. With a wingspan of 340 cm, wider than any other bird in the world, he can float almost without flapping his wings. It is easy to imagine him dying of old age while flying and after some period of decay still having it's skeleton carried along by rising air-streams. Somewhere, over the ocean, there must be a sort of air- suspended bird sanctuary where all the albatrosses gather to die when they know their time has come; a flock of soaring skeletons.."

"Edition of 120 copies cdr documenting a live performance from Paul Labrecque (Sunburned Hand Of The Man/Trees Chants And Hollers/The Other Method et al). Labrecque’s string work makes reference to the lonesome sound of Sandy Bull and John Fahey while connecting with the experiments in contemporary American Primitive drone of Paul Metzger and Matthew Valentine. Quietly psychedelic and spellbindingly intimate. In full colour gatefold card sleeve." volcanic tongue

head of wantastiquet

"head of wantastiquet is the solo project of sunburned hand of the man's paul labrecque. this is the long awaited follow-up to paul's debut cassette release on open mouth. this lp is luscious and layered with psych banjo based pieces spread over 12 tracks. i'd compare it to a cross between daniel higgs and doc boggs with sweet vocals. solo guitar & banjo tapestries, a truly beautiful record which comes in a screenprinted double sided sleeve sleeve in a one time edition of 500." mimaroglu
"head of wantastiquet is paul labrecque, who should be a household name to lovers of transcendental experimental music. labrecque has also released an amazing lp with valerie webb entitled “trees, chants & hollers”, which is constructed from acoustic guitar with vocals, electronics, the sounds of crickets, and the wood-burning stove." subterrarium
paul labrecque, otro disco lleno de tópicos maravillosos: banjos, campos de algodón, árboles y cantos.

valerie webb & paul labrecque

'Ramble on, so so', 'Swift River Blues' y como colofón un sobrecogedor homenage a Rachel Corrie de casi ocho minutos.

'This is a beautiful, dense album in so many ways; it offers up something new with every listen' Brad Rose
