plankton wat

"Plankton Wat’s Spirits album reflects the undeniable chakra-centering power of Portland Dewey Mahood, who also plays with Eternal Tapestry, Garden Sound, and Edibles. on Spirits, Mahood refines his psych-rock proclivities into tranquil emanations reminiscent of Alice Coltrane and Don Cherry’s most sacred gestures and the liquid bliss of Sensations’ Fix’s “Music Is Painting in the Air.” the ten tracks here radiate a holy, pastoral beauty, making Spirits an early contender for my top albums of 2012 list." the stranger

"the music is inspired by the pacific northwest environment, the mountains and coastline, the weather, sky and clouds, and my closest friends." dewey mahood

edibles

"A natty sidestep into phased sunshine and reggae abstractions from pdx posi preacher Dewey Mahood (Eternal Tapestry, Plankton Wat, Bloodbiker, etc). Super Space/Mind Peace is Mahood’s debut release under the Edibles banner and it captures seven of his most colorful and casual cruises into high-flying space junkadelica. Chilled guitar echoes, dub percussion details, vapor trail melodies, and basement bongos bop along like the slowest brokest car along an island dirt road at dusk. All instrumentals except for the wordless fog chant on “Inna Groove.” More from this champ is on the way courtesy of fellow west coasters Stunned and DNT. Peace out properly the first time around."

"Late-night brooding acoustic guitar arpeggios by Eternal Tapestry’s Dewey Mahood. Cosmic raga’s moonlit by deep earthmagic awareness, invoking the spirits of Jack Rose, Robbie Basho, Sandy Bull etc. 70 copies." sloow tapes

phankton wat

"all love to the master, dewmah has arrived. dewey mahood is probably best known these days as being the non-bindeman third of portland's fuzz kings, eternal tapestry. but when he's not burning down houses, he moonlights as the inimitable plankton wat. fractured folk-infused meanderings with warm strings and organic dressing. mahood's vocals are the ideal accompaniment to these bright, understated anthems. minimal percussion and mbira pick up where the vocals leave off, finding a balance with the acoustic haze.
it's been a great year for plankton wat (check his dnt lp!) and eternal tapestry, and "our solar beings" is another vital feather in his discography. edtion of 80, golden red suns." digitalis

plankton wat

"Debut solo lp by Dewey Mahood of Portland psych-jammers Eternal Tapestry. Ten songs recorded at the Owl House basement last winter on cassette 4-track. Plankton Wat is a vast array of sounds and moods, from blissed-out drone punk rippers to super chill deep space folk. Total late night stoney textures, and radiant sun anthems. Acoustic and electric guitar, drums, banjo, mbira, and some singing, all mega tripped with syrupy analogy delay. Really beautiful heavy zoners. Hand drawn covers and insert by Dewmah. Edition of 500 on marbled red vinyl" dnt
