"Microflvrscnce is Micromelancolié (Rob Skrzynski ~ Poland) & Wolf Fluorescence (Ross Devlin ~ USA). They began working on this collaborative tape/project and presented it to us. We were immediately drawn into the work. Piano and synth arrangements swirl around through field recordings, rhythmic/tribal sound collage, audio manipulation and billowy compositions. Some music in this genre can get lost in tone and forget time, these pieces instead focus on highly dynamic moments of tones. Suddenly the floor falls out, the roof caves in, the sea blows back, and the listener is drawn with the flush of sound, ushered across something stark yet ecstatic. Highly narrative and dynamic sound exploration from intercontinental digital composers." patient sounds

me encanta Microflvrscnce. su electrónica exploratoria y sensorial, tan distinta a todo, es casi música concreta a baja fidelidad, de la que sólo puede ser escuchada en bucle. extraña, infinitamente adictiva y personal, como el propio nombre del grupo. una espiral de sintetizadores, pianos y vibraciones vitales en sus múltiples formas que por alguna extraña razón, quizás por la propia música, quizás por la portada, me hacen pensar en el verano eterno de Fennesz. la canción I.I., tan bonita y evocadora, comienza con un piano y a partir de ahí el delirio, grabaciones de campo, repiqueteos de campanas y voces árabes misteriosas que se deslizan en una especie de trance caótico, en un crescendo emocionante. las canciones I.II y I.III se construyen a partir de ruiditos extraterrestres, manipulaciones, ambientes evocadores, partículas invisibles de sonido e interferencias radiofónicas que parecen de los años cincuenta. es como si The Caretaker se hundiera en una maraña de glitches y sonoridades arenosas todavía más ásperas y desoladas. experimental, rugoso, tribal. a los que hayan caído rendidos como yo, recomendarles también la discografía de Micromelancolié y Wolf Fluorescence por separado. Wolf Fluorescence publicó además el año pasado una cassette preciosa en Jozik con caballito de mar en la portada y otra en SicSic.

micromelancolié ~ gravity boat (jozik, 2012)

"Micromelancolié, aka Poland-based musician Robert Skrzyński, is the owner of the 49manekinów net-label and the co-owner of 77industrie net-label. Robert's works can be described as deformed repetitive ambience with a dynamic micro activity in a sound that is created in non traditional way by using no-input mixing board, old VHS tapes, classic analogues and field recordings.

Skrzyński’s approach to the issue of samples reminds me of going through one’s personal scrapbook ~ an archive of the most secret, intimate symbols and metaphors which are totally incomprehensible but seem to be driven by some internal order.  lazy drones and funeral strings are layered together with a cackling of cheerful chickens, birds chirping. the most mesmerising piano is having a chat with group of flute scraps and an industrial loop. but what’s most important here: his music is a collage, not chaos, it’s a subtle symphony made of one’s handy mess. Skrzyński never loses his wits so everything is falling into right place, carefully caressing the ear and lighting up the atmosphere of your reading room. It’s postmodern mysticism, hot and dusty sampledelia similiar to Kurek’s Heat or Basinki’s Disintegration Loops in miniature." easterndaze

jokiz, otro minúsculo sello finés fuente inagotable de tesoros (mt. tjhris/fallen axe split). y cuántos de ellos condenados injustamente al olvido, algo que por cosas tan íntimas y abstractas (será un theremin lo que suena al final?) como la canción/corte/tema/composición que da título al disco no debería ocurrir. si 'owl eater' era un disco de atardecer, 'gravity boat' es un cuaderno de bocetos y pequeños detalles para escuchar al amanecer: pianos, voces de niños, glitchs, campanas de monasterio, drones, bucles infinitos y muchos pajaritos, cuervos, gaviotas... decía jackie farrow en foxy digitalis que "robert can sample almost anything and turn it into a work of art" y no puede ser más verdad

"dissonant tones, an unstable aural combination, and tensions that demand more; 'owl eater' from Micromelancolié is an album that finds a much more humanly private quality than resolution: it finds conflict and grief. the album begins in the static unknown ~ a monotonous search in the woods of a lonely whir. as an owl's gaze wanders, so does the light buzz in the tone, moving in and out of the speaker, up and down in the melody.

looking for prey, Micromelancolié eats the bird of wisdom and moves onto the second side with a pounding harmony on the piano. the gloom and drear of chord pushes back into another tension, but this time more harsh than side a. contact mics, samplers and pre-recorded sounds; 'owl eater' brings a moon-skulled thrill, and a surreal reach for the creatures of the night." ray jackson, already dead tapes
