There is no such thing as happiness, when you lost someone. There can be a lot of things as emptiness, despair, anxiety, but happiness turns into abstract concept. Society will tell you a lot about death and how to deal with it, we have formulas and catchwords for every imaginable situation. But under the surface of dealing with pain it remains untouched – fear, uncomfortable feeling of change, that cannot be reversed... And it doesn't really matter who's missing in your life now. Animal can be the closest family member and if you ever lost one, you know what I'm talking about here. Maybe it's too sentimental but knowing that your animal will definitely live shorter life than you never helps to deal with their passing. And how beautiful when this feeling of loss transforms into art, into vivid memory, that will never disappear as easily, as human memory can do. Music is a very flexible material and anything can be projected onto it. As a water surface, it reflects things, but at the same time has its own deepness. And at some point it doesn't even matter what artist wanted from this tunes for himself – music always gives you more. In case of this wonderful 17-min track sound creates a beautiful picture of the sunny day, spent in happy laziness, just watching the game of light and shadows in you room. Wind gently touches curtains, bringing flower aromas with it. And beneath all of this you hear slow evolving drone, so similar to cat's purr...

Seven years ago started 'Calm in Trees' as the result of the joy of discovering amazing music that was not easy to listen to. In the beginning, the posts started providing information about the project, the record and the label. A lot of music lovers were very thankful with Ana because she made us discover  marvelous and interesting underground sounds even when most of the time was so difficult to reach that kind of music; not just because there were not mp3 all over the place as they are now, but also because some of those were limited editions.

Along those 7 years a lot of changes occurred. Thanks to the spread of the mp3 format and storage pages, we were able to listen consciously a record and then buying it  if our pockets allowed it. Here was shared music from all over the world sometimes from far away countries like Finland or so. Also, more persons started to contribute with this blog always with the same spirit, that is to share and promote music that we love and respect, 'download to know, purchase to support'. Besides music, we also were sharing different images by different artists or photographers from all over the world for to promote their work.

We want to let you all know which is the intention of this blog in a clear manner. We don't want to affect any artist, project or label. If in past because misunderstandings or a lack of a communication we have affected or shared music that was not intended to be shared, we publicly apologize  as we didn't mean to do so. The last years everyday we receive a lot of mails from artists or labels sending us their music for us to do a post to promote their music. We also publicly thank to all them for sharing -in a lot of cases even the lp, tape, cd or so- and we thank them because the blog was about that, to promote and share (as we have said so many times) and a lot of times were the artists themselves who were feeding the spirit around here.

Because what really matters is the music, besides the readers and artists that time to time give a look to this blog, we want to keep going with the blog. But we want to ask very clearly that in case you are a musician or a owner of a label and you don't want us to promote or to share a link, please let us know directly and we are willing to delete the post and link. Fortunately, internet is also changing and there are also options for artists that want to be promoted or listen to without sharing the files, as it has happened here tons of times that we just share for example the 'listen' link.

We are open, we want to learn and we want to be able to keep expressing our thoughts and ideas, but most important, we want to keep discovering music.

montañas

montañas ~ 7" (tres pies, 2008)

me pasó hace un par de años con o fillo pausado y ha vuelto a suceder ahora con montañas. ¡¡y cómo no iba a pasar con ese nombre!!, es evidente que si en tu vida hay una ventana que deja ver montañas todo cambia, al fín y al cabo somos lo que vivimos, somos el imán de nuestras circunstancias, con nuestros temores sí pero también con nuestros deseos, y por ahí montañas ha encontrado el camino para divertirse y como no, para divertir. así a bote pronto debería sentir cierto reparo ante la velocidad pero lejos de eso me he sentido inmensamente feliz ante la sensación de vértigo y conseguir eso en 9 minutos y 6 segundos suena a genialidad a; "oye, tenéis el don". supongo que todo trasciende las anotaciones meramente musicales, montañas gustan porque son de verdad, orgánicos, no son de plástico, ya saben, el truco es partir de dentro hacia fuera y nunca al revés. asturies, andrín, gatos, burros, picus, piragües (la palabra más bonita del mundo ahora mismo), huertas, dionisios, luarca, silbidos. recomiendo macerar primero y servir después en bucle. el resultado igual de estupendo que la tarta de albaricoque de elena. música para supervivientes como bruno (el panzudo de ahí abajo), para los valientes que abandonan el asfalto por el verde. y si además les digo que uno de los montañas es vegano entenderán más fácilmente el flechazo. de cuando das gracias a quién corresponda por haberte animado a coger el coche hasta peón. gracias elena, gracias walter. como diría terminator, volveré.
