ruth garbus

"lovely set of guitar/voice studies from vermonter ruth garbus, reminding of kath bloom’s sides (both w/ & w/o loren connors) & linda perhacs’ effortlessly breathy “parallelograms”. but then again i imagine most will compare the omnipresent patina of tape-hiss & chiming guitar figures to liz “grouper” harris; fans of whom will most certainly want to investigate herein" mimaroglu

"ruth garbus used to be in a band called Feathers,  she still plays with kyle t. in a band called happy birthday, she lives with c. weisman in brattleboro & her sister is merrill Tune-yards.

is she a singer/songwriter? folk musician? chanteuse? torch singer? jazz vocalist? new age artist? tropicalia? early music?. im not sure what we should call it. maybe all of the above. well it doesn't really matter anyhow because we think you'll think ruth's new album is super good." autumn

kurt weisman

"Orange is kurt weisman's second album and it is a brilliantly chiseled gem. a beautiful garnet, or perhaps an orange chalcedony. there are traces of traditional norwegian melodies, atonal counterpoint, simple folk songs, new age blues, spacy doo wop, neo-classicism & love songs...kurt lives in a cabin in the woods near putney, vermont. it seems that the quiet, peaceful isolation permeated this music. these songs were ingrained and steeped deeply within kurt's soul (and fingers) over the course of a few years. now he is a mirror reflecting them back to us with love to the universe. Orange is mostly kurt singing and playing guitars but there are tasteful additions of clarinets from robert stillman (horses) and kinetic sparkling keyboards from eliot krimsky (glass ghost) & a touch of other instruments & sounds by kurt. included is a nice insert of a woodblock print of a horse by ben stamper who also helped produce the album." autumn

puedo confirmar y confirmo que when i saw him with you es una de las canciones más bonitas de kurt weisman e incluso de feathers, y también blueberry song, que me recuerda a kath bloom y loren connors

kurt weisman

"While Spiritual Sci-Fi is a result of work that Kurt Weisman has been undertaking for the last 10 years it's certainly also worth noting that he's a multi-instrumentalist in the acclaimed folk outfit Feathers. Kurt's stunning musicallity and absolute compositional prowess makes this an extremely compelling and wonderfully musical experimental pop-folk recording. The dense & original arrangement makes recalls the majesty of Van Dyke Parks album Song Cycle.

Kurt Weisman is a New England composer in his late 20s around whom all the wheels of life seem distinctly sped up (he's known for his extreme falsetto as well as pitching up his voice beyond Beatle and into cartoon)..." Important

asa irons & swann miller

"...2005 was Feathers year, hands down. Asa Irons solo album is an exercise in simplicity. Nine tracks with no names packaged in a jewel case with minimal cover art and no real information on the release, this album is magnificent. These songs are beautiful, heart-breaking, and enchanting. Everything you could want from a guy, a girl, and a guitar is offered up on this release. It is nearly perfect and just as good as the Feathers LP. Thank god this is being reissued in vinyl. Feathers

Old Black Hat With a Dandelion Flower'...
