ayer recibí en el correo uno de los regalos más bonitos que se pueden recibir: una canción compuesta especialmente por vladimir de x.y.r. para nuestro blog. y aquí está, justo a tiempo para formar parte del nuevo compilado y que además acaba reflejando, aunque sea involuntariamente, la radiografía y el clima de todas las canciones. se llama 'calm in trees' y es extremadamente bonita. hay pajaritos y melodías ensoñadoras y teclados celestiales, toda la vida y el espíritu del blog parece resumirse en ocho minutos, la tristeza es alegre y la alegría es melancolía. 'a window open' podría ser un compendio de 'hits' que son hits, esbozos que no llegan a ser canciones, sellos pequeños que ya no son tan pequeños y otros que los siguen siendo al menos en espíritu, ambient de todas las épocas, field recordings, kraut, space folk, meditación, canciones perdidas, adelantos, regalos y alguna sorpresa. enjoy ^^

"no au! is a mix of concrete sounds recorded during the ethnographic investigation for the Saber Fazer exhibition as part of Câmera Escura, a projecto Buh! production for Guimarães 2012 ~ European Capital of Culture. Saber Fazer is a photographic exhibition, a video installation and a sound installation which explores the universe of Guimarães' local 'know-hows', particularly those associated with traditional professions and important regional industries, namely tanning and knife making, but also things of a more contemporary nature such as robotics. 

thus, in the cold basement of a parking lot echo the soundscapes created by Gil Mac to inhabit the photographs of Pedro Medeiros of the three trades represented. Madroa (a tannery), a family-run business on the verge of extinction; Herdmar (a knife making factory), a family-run business in expansion; the University of Minho's Algoritmi Centre's Robotics and Automation Laboratory, a research centre which invents and projects the future; are the interlocutors portrayed. at the end of the course, Nuno Patinho's and Ricardo Seiça's video installation can be found, prompting one to use headphones and thus listen to each interviewee talk about their trade, its history and its processes, whilst simultaneously omitting the sound installation present in that exhibition space. from the wooden tanning tanks used to dye hides, to the monstrous Russian machines used in the stamping of knives; the sound of robots interacting with the surrounding reality finally completing the trilogy of this sound journey. Whatever™... on side B(onus) immerse yourself in a sonic rotating robotic corpse megamix cobbled together by Meadowlands, Lace Bows and Qwerty. this moment of androidal bliss brings to an end the magnetic mayhem of Exo Tape." exo tapes

cada nueva cinta de cassette que publica Exo Tapes es un regalo del cielo. ¿puede ser una canción más bonita, volátil y sensorial que 'bamboo hearts'? parecía imposible que Meadowlands, el proyecto semiinvisible y delicadísimo de Michael McGregor, pudiese igualar tanta belleza. pero 'met éireann', prometedor adelanto de 'tri-coastal horizons', es ahora mismo el auténtico tesoro escondido del catálogo de Exo Tapes. algo indescriptible y mágico, verde y clorofila como el helecho de la foto de Li Hui, algo que sólo podría salir de las orgánicas manos de Michael McGregor y de un título inspirado, al parecer, en la meterología irlandesa. seis minutos de paz y serenidad, el espacio atrapado en la estela de una nota en suspensión, la variación minúscula como eje y razón final. todo es perfecto. Michael, como Paul Skomsvold, Carter Mullin o el mago Schlienz, sabe cómo tocarte el corazón, cómo tocar la belleza, cómo hacer canciones calm in trees de gravedad cero que logren el sueño de cualquier canción del mundo: robar al que escucha, exagerando o sin exagerar, seis minutos de su vida. lo tengo que decir... seguro que será uno de nuestros discos favoritos del año. de cuando confías con los ojos cerrados. junto a The Exhalers, JCCG, Sky Stadium, Berlenga y Europa Rural, otra razón para desear que no nos falte nunca Exo Tapes.

"after releasing under the names Mediafired, JCCG, and Sofa Pits, and establishing his own Exo Tapes as one of young tape labels to watch, the Portuguese chill out maester known as João/Johnny has launched a new project titled The Exhalers. this new material sets about effortlessly hybridizing drone and ambient conventions, as well as digital and analog elements: the recordings were done on an old fostex x28h multitrack cassette machine and prominently features the notoriously bright tones of a casio ctk-495. throw in an army of web art dolphins and you have yourself an aesthetic. the cooing oscillations and digitized cracklings of “~player~” comprise the B side of Wave Reader II.O, which is the second in a series of three tapes. the semi-binaural pulsations are extremely relaxing, so we suggest you put on the good headphones and dive into this seriously blissful stuff." international tapes

dos nuevas referencias para un sello que acaba de empezar y que nos emociona recibir en nuestro correo. wave reader de the exhalers podría ser otra de esas grabaciones tan cetacean nation cassettes de paisajes acuáticos, no sólo por su música sino también por los entrañables dibujos de delfines y collages de mundos submarinos del interior de la cinta, un auténtico regalo caído del cielo. imagina a duncan cameron flotando ingrávido en una sexta dimensión, añade un poquito de ginjoha tapes, texturas volátiles, teclados lunares y ambientes campestres en un mundo new age...y así hasta casi  llegar con 'cruise booze', 'crystal bird' y 'bubbles to miles' a alcanzar el enigmático mood de un disco irrepetible como 'on sea-faring isolation' de dolphins into the future. imposible no caer rendida y enamorada también ante meadowlands y una portada que invita a sumergirse de lleno, a dejarse hipnotizar por las sensuales postales ambient de 'sonafin' o 'pumpernickles'. lo mismo pero diferente. capas infinitas, texturas flotantes, drones de los que no quieres salir, y una canción en repeat: 'bamboo hearts'.
