Newest offering from Tuluum Shimmering's universe turns to more raga-like forms, presenting eight track of sparkling sitar tunes, guitars, flutes and tribal percussion. Being a huge fans of Jake's output we can testify that there's always something really special about his music and this release is no exception. Throughout the years, Tuluum Shimmering provides the sunniest music we ever experienced. Be it long-form drones of earlier albums, noisy outburst jams or endlessly looped meditations, his music always shines brightly, bringing the joyful mood and clear vision. It's not even about music, but the state in which it is created and which it translates – it radiates through the sound, pure joy of being alive, of experiencing life as a gift. It may sound too new-agey, but once you dive into these waters, you start believing that nothing was ever wrong with our planet of with human race. After all, it's just a tiny part of huge ornament, unfolding though the Universe. All our joys and pains intertwined in one repeated composition. Music is indeed an universal force, multipurpose language that needs no words to invoke a special feeling of interconnection of every living being. Tuluum Shimmering is an ascending cosmic spiral we all live on.

a r c a d e ~ bilberries and mushrooms
Hypnotic whirl of grooves and hums, layered over the ground of weird echoes. Dance of electric impulses of mycorrhiza. Drops of water on the spider web. Moonlight reflections in the crystals hidden between leaves... I can go on like this forever while listening to this tape. It came a while ago, but every time I listened to it, the more hypnotizing it was. I know that term "psychedelic" can be attached to anything these days, so let's just say it's magical. And it truly is! Once you fall into these grooves and catch the vibe of those slightly unbalanced loops, it will spin in your deck for ages. Tuluum Shimmering tropical canoe trip with Julia Bloop and Rod Hamilton, smiling to each other under the moonlight. High Wolf-y relaxing tunes to lazy Sunday mornings, Black Joker's game of never-ending loops which erase the difference between sounds which are actually there and imagined ones. And believe me, you'll be getting many of them even when tape stops. Maybe it's just a result of long-time addiction to weird cassette loop music, but a r c a d e definitely brings some tricks along with its seemingly simple compositions. The name behind is Nathan Stephenson and I strongly suggest to keep an eye on his output - "bilberries and mushrooms" is only a debut work!

rod hamilton and tiffany seal ~ versatile ambience
Rod
Hamilton and Tiffany Seal are an electronic music duo from Baltimore,
MD. Their instrumental album, Versatile Ambience, was performed live to
cassette. eshe records
When I enjoy something very much it seems hard to write about it just because I have some kind of fear – so many things to express, such intense feelings... Sometimes it feels like trying to embrace the sea waves. Thinking about this tape I tried to avoid comparisons, but it's impossible not to mention Tuluum Shimmering or Dream Safari or Black Joker or early High Wolf to describe the feeling this recording gives me. Being a huge fan of 2009-11 psych drone tape music, when everything was so lo-fi, psychedelic and sweet, I can't avoid nostalgia while listening to something like this. Blissful vibes of xylophone sound, calm ambiences, tape-hiss-infused loops and weird new-agey feeling of relaxation on the edge with psychedelic revelation... So deeply warm and embracing sound, that it's almost impossible to break the listening into parts – only pressing repeat button feels like right choice. Your trip will feature tropical islands, jungle & mighty rivers, warm deserts and calm oases, therapeutic relaxation sessions, third eye opening, flying with the bees over unearthly beautiful flowers... Okay, think you already get what to expect here! So don't hesitate and grab your piece of this charming exotic beauty. Absolutely recommended and highly gratifying sounds for your inner self.

tuluum shimmering / the exhalers
"reissue of 2 cdrs previously issued separately by artist. several years back Jake (Tuluum Shimmering) offered to send recordings out to those who sent him something in the mail. I went ahead and sent some things and in return got an amazing box back several weeks later. Included were these two discs. two single track long pieces that just blew me away and continue to blow me away to this day. over the years the discs Ive owned have become worn or almost lost in the chaos and the need to have these recordings given a second life, especially on a physical format became important in my mind. Tuluum Shimmering recordings always seems to head towards somewhere very sacred and these two recordings are some of the strongest journeys for me. much thanks for the chance to release this." josh/ tomentosa

the exhalers ~ bay of light, frases de entretanto (branch tapes, 2015)
"I sat on my stoop at dusk last night remarking on the loss of the divine. how the landscape in front of me now so heavily civilized, felt razed and distant. within moments the landscape shifted and the power lines and buildings seeped into the background and muted as the landscape exerted it’s true continuous nature that I had just been unable to see. these recording seem to bridge that gap; expressing that which is razed but also paying homage to something greater that runs beneath it all. there’s a piece on the second side that took me many listens to even hear, to really listen and have set in to my conscious to the point of it being my most favorite part of the tape. It was always there but only the shift of my own perspective brought about true appreciation. the artwork, dubbing and putting together of this tape went from deliberate ideas to something that existed beyond my immediate vision; something that brought me out of the sky and down to the point where the sea laps at your feet and the landscape folds out behind your back strong but ebbing at the shore. many thanks for the chance to release this." josh/tomentosa

kon teifi ~ kon teifi (coracle audio documents, 1974)

sold out ~ download
"something of a mystery here... a couple of weeks ago a package arrived at Tuluum Shimmering Recordings headquarters, a box of 12 tapes with a brief note asking if our label would be so kind as to distribute these cassettes. the note was unsigned, and there was no return address. the tapes appear to have been made in 1974, and come with a small 4 page foldout booklet. the booklet reveals the story of a journey by coracle from Polynesia to Wales to prove a theory held by the unnamed author/recordist. the recordings on the tape were apparently made on this journey. I've been unable to find out any more about this tape or the voyage it documents, but we here at TSR are honoured to be able to help it finally see the light of day." tsr

"four magical cd's by UK-based, one-man transcendental-drone band Tuluum Shimmering. the sound of Tuluum Shimmering is
like a sort of loop-driven, timeless ethnic music without a region or a
tradition. an array of instruments (sampling keyboard, flutes, violin,
kalimba, percussion) are run, via a mixer, through a multi-FX pedal into
a 30-second looper, and out to an amp." aguirre

Everything has its cycles. Since the very start of everything we know, every single movement was part of some cycle. Galaxies spinning around each other or seasonal changes - it's only question of a scale. And with every cycle something changes - slowly, steady, it may be something absolutely invisible, - but it changes. Constant renovation of cosmos goes endlessly, through myriads ways of self-knowing. We can say that we breathe for life, but maybe it's Life breathes through us. Everything flows and everything remains the same. Your body changes every second, but you find yourself in the bed every morning - looking same, living same pattern, performing same rituals, thinking same thoughts. Days are going, but you don't feel them like a cycle - we are walking a straight line from past to future. But most likely this is spiral - unfolding, unfurling - and each new coil takes us one step up. Aeons ago people celebrated such turns with rituals, and we do same thing, only in different form. But if you don't have to explain why X-mas celebration ritual is important, why we should do those celebration only on determined days? Nature celebrates every sunrise, why shouldn't we? I think that music of Tuluum Shimmering is the way of such celebration. It cycles, brings joy and refreshing view of everything you put your mind on and it gives perspective of this endlessly unfolding Mystery of Creation that we all happened to be part of.Every ritual has its pattern, and Jake Webster's tunes are always ritualistic in their own way. This is such kind of music that don't really tells you stories, but involves in creation of your own ones. It reminds wondrous magic carpet that hypnotizes you with its patterns - they seem repetitive at first glance, but longer you look the more you see. And it appears to be a flying carpet and it takes you far-far away from usual routine that we fill our lives by some silly reasons. This music gives you a ride that reminds about sacred nature of everything existing under this sun. A journey which is needed to recall that you're always on a journey. You're sitting on the couch, but meanwhile sun makes it cycle through the galaxy and this music makes you feel that. Under the layers and layers of loops and melodies it contains this wonderful never ending raga-like drone flow that connects every living creature in the Universe. Huge web, where energy flows, changing shapes and states. Once you feel it, you'll never be alone! Perform your rituals, celebrate your life, and don't think you run in circles - every circle is only a planar projection of neverending, infinitely unfolding spiral of Life. And this music goes along with it, just feel - just follow.

tuluum shimmering
~ a 19min film by Tuluum Shimmering with 3 different soundtracks recorded live in the presence of the film. ~
"...you know what to expect ~ ultimate rainforest transcendence from the shamanic looper extraordinaire" jimmy billingham
"this is the most astonishing piece of music/art that I have witnessed all year. breathtaking anthropological footage of unknown primordial utopias (woven seamlessly into a blurred kaleidoscopic succession of images from the Far East, Pacific Islands, maybe even Tuluum itself?) stimulate intense yearning for return to Eden; "Trance" is not a label befitting work of this nature. the musical component is fused perfectly with the visual; tribal rhythms pulsate while flailing aspirant bamboo flutes loops drown in reverb ebb and flow as so many tides on the shores of distant undiscovered lands. loops collide/disperse/interweave with improvisation until all you are left with at the end is illumination." chebsamdoun

tuluum shimmering
"20 min. film on dvd, with the full 60min jam that the sountrack’s culled from on cd. beautiful packaging on these with each case having a unique photo on the cover."

¡chin chin!

tuluum shimmering
"dreamy, loop-driven passages of energy permeate the listener for this
two hour meditation. the brilliant vibrations have the tendency to
consume, heightening awareness. at times, one tends to get lost in the
swirling buoyancy radiating from the speakers. Sky Tree
is an apt title; above the clouds, where the perceptions are more
lucid, Tuluum's flowing benevolence begets sagacity. until I first heard
Tuluum Shimmering, I had not previously experienced anything similar. according to an interview,
a variety of instruments ~ kalimba, percussion, violin, flutes,
sampling keyboard ~ are run from a mixer through a multi-effects pedal
into a 30 second looper, and then out to an amp. across the discography,
their is a tendency to lose oneself in a malestrom of luminous
vibrations, a celebration of life. ever since arriving at the house, Sky Tree has been billowing faithfully much like my sacred indica ~ highly recommended." honest bag

"...what is there left to say about Clime's next level soundscapes that align so nicely with the breath? Along with this release, 12th Rain of the Oscillating Universe, the vibrations on their Space Slave tape inspire the sparks of life. Their music seems to move without
a trace, yet one is always ascending - such is the subtle variation
which begets their hallucinatory vibe. Entrancing loops bask in the
radiant glow, yet continually bloom. A tapestry of sonorous swirling
noise and swollen ambience loops a fine web around ones consciousness,
seeping in slowly. Around 20 minutes in, bird calls coincide with
certain elements dropping into the back of the mix; ethereal and flowery
pulsating light moves to the foreground. Soulful rhythms manifest along
with a gauzy drone. Various percussion features prominently toward end ~
taking the track to next level. The flipside is much lighter compared
to side a; sweetly flowing, soothing vibrations drift unencumbered.
There seems to be more space on side b, at least in the beginning, which
is lovely. Whether it is side a's rapturous celebration of sound or the
flip's gentle tranquility, the synergy between these two sound healers
is conspicuous over the entirety." honest bag
