dos mil catorce ha empezado (lluvia, lluvia y más lluvia) y como cada año, antes de hacer la lista, me pregunto si seré capaz de resumirla en menos de cincuenta canciones. y a pesar de los esfuerzos titánicos (de Günter Schlienz faltan 'arrivées', 'hypnotized by snowflakes', 'talking to seagulls (with barney and tristan)' y 'first vision', y de Miaux 'canyon eye' y 'ow shadow') ha sido imposible, así que aquí están mis cien canciones favoritas del dos mil trece para que las disfrutéis. entre el placer y la tortura, mucha paciencia para bajaros las dos partes... el año pasado fueron ciento cuarenta, algo es algo :)

los caramelos de Tranquility Tapes, ñam ñam. todo lo que editan sigue siendo un elogio a la instrospección y al sonido orgánico, cálido y ensoñador. todo suena cercano, familiar, acogedor, sé que me va gustar (Transmuteo, Nag Dolly, Sundrips, Panabrite, Albino Groupie, Quiet Evenings,...)

con Trailing es imposible no agotar piropos y coincido plenamente con las palabras de Franklin Teagle, es difícil pensar en un disco de su catálogo que encarne mejor que 'asymmetries' el nombre y el espíritu del sello. de su sensible acercamiento a las guitarras, sin abandonar del todo los teclados de los maravillosos Sundrips, decir lo muchísimo que me recuerda a Carter Mullin aka Reedbeds. loops de guitarras cristalinas e intangibles, veinte minutos de relajación que no hacen más que corroborar y magnificar la valía artística de Ryan Connolly, veinte minutos que te dejan con esa sensación de que han sido compuestos pensando en ti, en tu ideal de cómo te gustaría que sonara una guitarra que parece un teclado.

'shiro' de Difference Clouds es igual de evocador y envolvente, bonito desde el nombre y su portada comestible. también puro tranquility tapes: sintetizadores analógicos, samples, kalimbas... instrumentos como de juguete que Zach Smith convierte en transmisores de emoción pura y meditación (deliciosa 'amethyst moors', aunque sencilla parece infinita y enamora como 'iscandarian sunset') coqueteando con sonidos que de tan orgánicos parecen orientales. quién no querría tener un sello así, con un catálogo que quita el hipo (estoy  haciendo muy poco a poco por fin una lista con lo que más me ha gustado de este año y creo que hay al menos cuatro cassettes ya) y con unos diseños tan coloridos y personales como los de Caroline Teagle (Imperial Topaz). aprovechémoslo mientras dure y que sea por muchos años.
