peter and the wolf

"I don’t know how he does it, but Red Hunter of Peter And The Wolf doesn’t know how to record a bad song. Songs from his old records have defined moments and even periods in my life. They’re the kind of songs I’ll never forget. This sort of attachment to artists is why it’s difficult for artists to meet expectations and live up to music they made before that has had time to grow on their fans. The new track Hazy Lions from the to be released record Easy Mountain grabs you like a smell grabs a memory when Dan Falcoberry, the perfect compliment to Red’s voice, harmonizes with herself in true Peter And The Wolf style. Just like the chorus “And every morning we transcend the past” this song transcends any expectations a fan could have had for these tunes." invisible children

bonnie 'blue' billy

"open up your heart, let me come in
I have no hair on my chinny chin chin
you know I love you and I won't hurt you
I'm not the big bad wolf just little boy blue"

sapphire slows

"...it was with nuanced joy that we found ourselves spellbound and seduced by this young Tokyo gem-gleaner’s neon gallery of dynamic Casio nightlife masks, each of which is impeccably crafted and swathed in a fog basket of her effortlessly haunting Cocteau Twins-y shadow vox. There’s a wonderfully hushed vibe to Sapphire Slows’ most translucent tracks, beats materializing out of stray radio waves and metropolis static, electric piano memories washing away into the silent skyline of skyscrapers, synths congealing like synthetic whispers. The perfect soundtrack to urban insomniac wandering and wondering and lingering too long; almost like a Toyko take on Night Bus." not not fun

"Born in 1989, she started her solo project in Tokyo, spring 2011 . Tracks are all recorded in her bedroom, simply with one lap top and some keyboards. Her dance track expresses the space depth beneath the loneliness influenced by various electro music especially psychedelic chill-out." big love

phil maggi

"A well appropriated musical and textural contrast can be an incredibly satisfying thing to hear. That way of combining ambient prettiness with noise and fuzz chosen by the likes of Fennesz,  Ous Mal and Belong for instance, or Barn Owl’s dusty twilight stasis atop a bed of doomed grunt. The feeling of having your brain pulled in several directions at once...

What we have with Phil Maggi’s ‘Ghost Love’ is a set of tracks that visits various outposts of experimental music and wraps them up into something that shimmers with droning organic ambience on one hand; on the other it guides the listener through a quasi-ritualistic experience set out through primitive percussive or mechanical rhythms, captured ethnic vocal loops and even some Leyland Kirby-esque ‘hauntology’ to push the unsettling atmosphere and support the record’s title..." Daniel W J Mackenzie, Fuid Radio

"Inspiré par Werner Herzorg, Leadbelly, Ennio Morricone, les musiques traditionnelles klezmer et Tibesti, Ghost Love est un disque atmosphérique. Mystique et méditatif. Sombre et halluciné. Une promenade apaisante et stressante, rassurante et flippante sur des sables mouvants et inconnus. Trippant." focus vif

mi and l'au

"After exploring their creative impulses through strings, horns, pianos, and varied folk influences, Mi and L'au decided to venture into a newer, more electric environment on their newest record. If Beauty is a Crime doesn't feature a single guitar. In fact, you won't find a traditional instrument anywhere on it. But, along with Mira and Laurent's redefined approach, something familiar found its way into their music. While making the album, both musicians noticed the specter of familiar melodies and rhythms haunting their work; the inspiration wasn't from a specific song or melodic line, but from a mood or an idea buried somewhere in the past. As they investigated this anomalous influence, they uncovered a shared memory of films enjoyed during childhood, specifically those scored by French composer François de Roubaix, who was known for his use of synthesizers, drum machines and folk elements. The connection between his work and their current endeavor was obvious. Subsequently, Mi and L'au immersed themselves in his music even as they continued to produce their own. Whether by fate or by coincidence, de Roubaix's music found its way into their lives just as they were beginning to explore what electronic sounds could do for them. So, in the end, they dedicated If Beauty is a Crime to François."

jakob olausson

"At some point all great explorers, from Amundsen to Kishan Singh Rawat, come to an opening up and cast their minds across a big space. A clearing, a promontory, a look out from a place no one’s been before. Jakob Olausson ventured deep on Moonlight Farm, his debut for De Stijl in the winter of 2005. His singular expression returns on Morning and Sunrise, an explorer’s codex, a gaze through to what’s more important and less seen. The path yet traveled and the sun arcing over it. Morning and Sunrise is a different record from Moonlight Farm.
There is more electric guitar and it really whisks at your earbones, the playing is beautiful. Jakob’s singing glows more. It gives light and shows love as it reassures, makes no false promises, says: You can be understood. Honest as the elements, words like "loner" will be hung on Morning and Sunrise, and that’s okay, we associate clarity this potent with solitude. And this could be the most lucid psychedelic record ever, morning is just so clear, and anyway, it’s not really loner, because You are there all along." de stijl

gianni giublena rosacroce

That is the new solo project by Stefano Isaia, the singer and frontman from our beloved Movie Star Junkies. Accompanied by his mate Dedalo666, Stefano – here as Gianni Giublena Rosacroce – explores new sounds closer this time to the Middle-Eastern shores of the Mediterranean. Armed with clarinet, cans, drums and percussions, piano and acoustic guitars, the duo has just plotted the debut album “La piramide di sangue” (“The blood pyramid”). Thirteen tracks like one texture of thin arabesques, woven with casbah flavours and North African sounds. One record with a strong esoteric and cabalistic mood, musically influenced by Muhal Richard Abrams, Maurice McIntyre and Moondog foremost. 100 copies.

monster rally & rumtum

"Monster Rally & RUMTUM is the collaboration of Ted Feighan (Monster Rally) and John Hastings (RUMTUM). The two natives of Cleveland met in Columbus through mutual friends and began bonding over a love of beat music. The project is the exploration of their shared musical tastes and features influences from a broad range of styles including hip-hop, psych-pop, dub, dance and funk. The EP, MR&RT, is a seven-track introduction to the sound of Monster Rally & RUMTUM and serves as a preview of what’s to come." waaga records

serfs

"...'Sha La La - La Later On' presents two distinct sides of the Serfs spectrum. The first, a glossy sparse web of clean ringing guitar reminiscent of Loren Connors. Emotional without ever becoming melodramatic. It closes out with a wonderful cover of Jerry Garcia's 'Love Scene' from the Zabriskie Point soundtrack. The flip side is the grittier side of things - pure burned-out live works. The guitar has more growl, the recording more hiss. This side closes with another cover, this time as a duo with Beach Fuzz's Tom Settle, ringing out a ten minute all-over-the-place version of Curtis Mayfield's 'People Get Ready'. In an edition of 50 tapes in cardstock sleeves with an insert." cabin floor esoterica

"Despite its sunny sing-along title and the fact that it features covers of songs by Jerry Garcia and Curtis Mayfield, Jon Collin’s latest album of ambient-guitar music under the name Surfs is a pretty lonely and lackadaisical affair. Rather than using significant atmospherics or looping, Collin relies on a completely clean electric guitar and an empty room to create a beautiful and singular work... Great end of summer transitioning tunes. Purchase this, and the rest of Cabin Floor Esoterica’s gorgeously packaged new batch, direct from the label." zen effects

keijo

"Finnish legend Keijo Virtanen (the voice behind the Rambling Boys, The Free Players, etc.) returns to Cabin Floor with nearly an hour of fried blues. He rolls effortlessly from the sparse disjointed riffing and freakouts of '15 Days' into the solid locked coasting-blues groove of songs like 'With White Woman' and the almost Valentine-like dream of the instrumental title-track. Every song is developed and full. Beautiful howling harmonica wails, dancing clear guitars and the snapping drums keep things exactly where he wants them to be. Edition of 50 tapes in cardstock sleeves with two inserts, one featuring a photo from Keijo." cabin floor esoterica

high wolf

France’s High Wolf possesses a natural-born ability to zero in on the tones most conducive to inducing transcendental states. High Wolf’s tracks carry the uncanny sense of sounding as if they’ve been sluicing since the beginning of time, and that he had the graciousness to siphon them for teasingly brief absorption before they shimmer off to the vanishing point. This elite droneur is one of the few musicians who could title a release A Guide To Healing without it coming off as an ironic gesture or a laughable boast.

Atlas Nation, recorded in 2010 after a long trip to India and Nepal, deepens High Wolf’s penetration into the mystic. He evokes an uneasy peace with a new breed of tribal psychedelia shorn of all hokey signifiers. “Fuji Descent” starts the album with what could be a languid, paradisiacal soundtrack to a scrapped Alejandro Jodorowsky film. “The Dawn of Man” is a stark, stoned processional burrowing into malarial climes where guitars squawk in ominous tongues and congas cave in chests and clear brush with a vengeance. “Raagni” magnifies and psychedelicizes Rapoon’s mantric, ritualistic hand-drum patter and tropical-forest drones while hinting at Don Cherry’s jazz-raga peregrinations. High Wolf claims that “Haiti” was “recorded in a couple of hours on the day of the big earthquake in Haiti, so it's the darkest, saddest High Wolf track ever.” It’s a fittingly miasmic, climactic threnody.

Think of Atlas Nation as a surreal aural travelogue that takes a giant step beyond Jon Hassell’s Fourth World music, a humid milieu teeming with alien tonalities and oracular currents. It’s as welcome as a new, improved entheogen on the streets." holy mountain

"Wind in Willows is a solo project of Anton Filatov, from Republic of Karelia losted in swamps and forest in Russia, just near by the Finnish border. Childish synths, cutting your ear walls of guitar drones, and peacefull psychedely sometimes turning into new age. Overall Aura is an intimate work, free jams with friends, synth loops, and simple ambient passages"

dolphin synts, free jams...may clouds fly away!
