"For a while it looked like OC loners Horse Head were gonna follow the path out to pasture and never look back. Their Birds and Bees tape (cloudy forest hymns that fly and glide through the trees) in Arbor was pure nature, a feathery field recording of grassy, buzzing bliss, and even the singer/songwriter folk diaries of Make It Something Else, also in Arbor, were pretty unplugged and barefoot-vibed. Gone is the wind-in-yr-hair acoustic delay, the whispery poet croons. Percussion like metal shelves full of wrenches being kicked on to concrete. Pissed kids scream-talking at dry walls. Uncomfortable and ugly. Hand-stamped cdr's in blurry woven fiber paper, with one-of-a-kind collaged wooden horses, and a hand-numbered insert. Limited to 64." not not fun

en el corazón de Horse Head, además del psych folk campestre y embriagador de The North Sea o The Juniper Meadows que desprendía Birds and Bees, o del sunshine folk casi pop del maravilloso Make it something else (un cruce perfecto entre Wooden Wand y Greg Ashley), hay espacio para el noise tribal y sucio, los drones y las reverberaciones de The Defeatist. no sabría con qué cara quedarme, pero la portada de el Derrotista y esa locura que parece sacada de las entrañas llamada 'the place...' casi casi no dejan lugar a dudas.
