mary lattimore

"seek solace. be still and drift. withdraw and be there. there. inside. a chair awaits. a beginning built from an ending, from leaving, from afar. in times such as these, The Withdrawing Room is a safe haven to leave behind all that weighs heavily and surrounds us. we remark how comfortable the chair is, how exquisite the view is outside the window, the aroma, the breaths to be taken as you become aware of the minutia all around you and the sounds emanating from Mary Lattimore’s harp, warming your feet, your hands, your heart. breathe.

previous collaborations have seen Mary matching wits with such esteemed luminaries as Meg Baird, Kurt Vile, Ed Askew and Fursaxa. but for this debut work, Mary sequestered herself in a room, much like this one, to kindle three distinct works for keeping the listener company as he or she enjoys the view. the nuanced notes of the harp strings sing and reverberate amid subtle electronics courtesy of Jeff Zeigler on the 24-minute long piece “You’ll Be Fiiinnne;” “Pluto the Planet” meanders at a slow and steady pace as the sun makes its way across the sky and the gentle plucks of the silk and steel resonate within, beyond; the closing chaos of “Poor Daniel” charts a recklessness that embraces the listener as he or she quietly makes their way out of the room to tackle the world anew." desire path recordings

fursaxa

"...following Fursaxa’s role as part of The Valerie Project, a live soundtrack for the 1970 Czech film "Valerie and her Week of Wonders", Tara enjoyed playing with a number of musicians so much she enlisted their help for her new album, Mycorrhizae Realm...Greg Weeks, Mary Lattimore, and Helena Espvall, all fellow Valerians, feature here. Greg recorded the album at his studio; Mary contributes harp on 4 of the tracks found here as well as co-writing ‘Well Of Tuhala’ and ‘Charlote’; and Helena contributes cello on ‘Poplar Moon’, ‘Celosia’ and ‘Ode To Goliards’. It is an exercise in symbiosis." atp

anahita

"Anahita is Tara Burke (Fursaxa) and cellist Helena Espvall (Espers). Tara recently showed up on Important as part of the duo of Tau Emerald with Sharron Kraus while Helena contributed a beautiful piece to the James Blackshaw currated Garden Of Forking Paths compilation. Anahita is a beautiful, laboriously created and floating affair of skeletal organ drones, ceremonial singing and subtly frantic instrumental accompaniment conjuring up a natural woodland romp and stomp.
The album was recorded between 2005 and 2008. All tracks were recorded on a 4 track by Tara and Helena in their homes." important

"Duo recordings by Tara Burke (Fursaxa, Anahita, Tau Emerald) and Grant Acker (Slurp Dogs), smoking one late-period Un/early Fursaxa style. A scorching blend of distorted psychedelia, hypnotic riffing and mellow vocals trapped inside a very trippy atmosphere. Edition of 170 copies with silkscreened fold-out booklet." sloow tapes

fursaxa

"What a stunning album! Simply breathtaking! This is easily my favorite Fursaxa outing since her infamous Mandrake. It's certainly one of her most trippy to date. Listening to Kobold Moon is like traveling to a far off place where witches, folkloric gods and bizarre beasts, both fascinating and repulsive, still roam the planet. Either that or this is the result of one hell of a shamanic drug experience; but I prefer thinking of this album in terms of the fantastic. Alternating between absolute beauty and awkward, eerie moments, Kobold Moon is like experiencing a fable, an ancient children's tale. Not reading it, living it! The unfamiliar, the comic, the tender, the terrifying and the weird!" my record collection

"Limited album from Tara Burke aka Fursaxa, packaged in marbled, psychedelic card slipcases and wraparound inner sleeves and released on her own label.. The whole disc has a heavy Judee Sill feel that hasn’t really been so apparent in her back catalogue until now. It all ends with one of the most spell-binding movements in her entire catalogue, with a chaos of vocal hiss functioning as a long, slow pan through the kind of fog-bound territory previously mapped by Andrew Chalk and Christoph Heemann as Mirror. One of her darkest and most otherworldly set of space-whispers to date. Highly recommended." volcanic tongue

"Travellers Two is a full length recording from the duo of Tara Burke (Fursaxa) and Sharron Kraus. Togerther Kraus & Burke create an ethereal record of dark-folk magic. Tara Burke and Sharron Kraus were due to travel to Finland together for a week but missed the flight, so instead they decided to spend the week recording together and Travellers Two is the result. The time was spent out in the fields, visiting burial mounds, and then coming back to Sharron's home studio to work. They had played previously together and done some recording but this is the first time an album was conceived." important

fursaxa

anahita

anahita - arcana en cantos (deserted village, 2006 cd-r)

"This is the first release from the duo of Tara Burke (Fursaxa) and cellist Helena Espvall-Santorleri. It's three tracks will sound familiar to Fursaxa fans but the cello and extra female vocals provide more undertows to the slow whirl. The art is a luscious painting by Helena's husband Paul. "

Anahita; Antigua divinidad alada femenina irania.
