lex panayi / red river dialect

"always wonderful to hear from you. apologies for the silence, I like to hide :) I have attached something for you, finished this evening and free to share with ana, mar and anyone else. I hope it does not disappoint you." lex

"David, Jack, Ed, Simon & Hugh have recorded an album, but not got the ££ to make cd's & lp's, so we are hoping to garner some orders here to get it out." red river dialect

the end springs

This gorgeous minimal psych folk wonder began in the mighty fine hands of the brilliant improvisational guitar extraordinare The End Springs, who created skeletal tracks and then sent them to some of his best friends/favorite musicians for collaboration; Siddhi, Beggin' Your Pardon Miss Joan, The Child of a Creek & A Man and A Guitar. the result couldn't be more satisfying or soul seducing. There is an obvious unspoken connection between The End Springs and the other artists, as their musical union sounds like they've been playing together for years.

The album is lead with a solo End Springs track, bells ring in the beginning of repetitive slide guitar bits, shakers and a mist of desert drone, all dangling on the edge of familiarity and abandon. Each collaborating artist molds their given tracks in solemn but shining shapes like stars and smiles from the sun, light captured at its most delicate, delicious. Soft layers of voices, hi-hat tumblings and bass enrich the repetitive and ramblin' guitar plucked with that lazy winter impression. Sparse yet engaging, all signs point inward, towards the heart of everything. Another masterpiece from the mellow mind of the End Springs, this album is sure to captivate and entrance all three of your eyes. (don't act like you don't know)." tired trails

beggin' your pardon miss joan

"Edges will be the first widely available release by Beggin' Your Pardon Miss Joan, and is a collection of several old songs from previous highly limited releases on Centre of the Wood, Dead Pilot and Reverb Worship, plus 5 new tracks. The project is from the minds of Lex and Vanessa Panayi, Lex some of you may recognise as he also plays under the name of Guanaco±, who earlier this year had the Sky Burials LP released on BR. On this 9 track cd there are moments comparable to some of the material on the aforementioned LP, but at times it has a more singer-songwriter sound with more vocals, as well as merging autumnal psychedelic vocal excursions and traditional folk guitar meanderings. A really gorgeous collection of songs." blackest rainbow

guanaco

"debut LP from England's Lex Panayi who also plays in Beggin' Your Pardon Miss Joan, this however is his solo project, which focuses on psychedelic acid drenched folk and dark grey area drones for a monolith landscape. The whole records blends beautifully together to create an excellent album from a relatively unknown artist. This is a must for fans of early Six Organs of Admittance, Cam Deas, Voice of the Seven Woods and such... Paste on cover and insert, edition of only 300." blackest rainbow

beggin' your pardon miss joan

"...In the time after I first picked up the guitar but before I decided to ’share’ what evolved I committed these tracks to tape, as sketches and left them behind. I returned to these sketches over the weekend and have added, fiddled and tidied, amongst bloodied dawn’s, crisp riverside walks and intense paranoia…They are more than sketches now, methinks, so I am letting them leave the nest. I hope you dig them. If the songs stir you enough to want them on disc let me know I will see if I can pull something together. All of the songs were recorded in early 2008 so are an early representation of Beggin' Your pardon Miss Joan in it’s infancy (except for Black & White which is a demo I recorded earlier this year)
On another note we have also started putting ideas down for a full length Beggin' Your Pardon Miss Joan record. It feels like the right time!
Keep well,
Lex ±"

guanaco & beggin' your pardon miss joan

"Thank you, my friend. My pages had been hacked but I hope to be back online soon. I am working on new songs in the peace and quiet though, and will keep in touch with all of my dear friends :) Below is a link for two new Guanaco ± songs, and if you want to post them feel free. These are my hymns to the Red Leaves. Love always, Lex" new site!

"I have decide to post the new beggin' your pardon miss joan e.p as a digital copy for those that want it. 'No-One Belongs Here But You' is likely to be the last full release you hear from beggin' your pardon miss joan for a while, however there are a number of collaborations in the works. This is a digital copy of the tape due on Centre Of Wood so if you dig be sure to buy a copy to support the label...
In other news updates on Beggin' Tapes will feature here until shit is pulled together. Beggin' Tapes will be a short run label for tapes that are no longer than 30 minutes, be it e.p's or full length's. Copies will run to a maximum of twenty and will be composed of black and white art on white tape, with white casing. If you want to get in and about this idea drop me a line...
Keep well,

"I was once asked why I started the label & I said it was to "release the dust wind tales of bands & individuals to the people who need to hear...". Well believe me people you need to hear Guanaco. Lex Panayi creates beautiful sound scapes that float in and out of your head, trapping you in their way. You will notwant to let go once you get hooked on these trance blues...
Spray painted 3" cdr packaged in a clear pvc case together with a cover featuring some amazing artwork by Vanessa Panayi. Includes a small hand numbered insert. (Edition of 40)" dust wind tales
"Guanaco create simple song structures based around repetition, drones and vocal melody driven by the odyssey and the everyday. This is simple trance blues..."

beggin' your pardon miss joan

"Hey,
So we have decided to launch a blog to keep up to date with all things related and what better way to start than with some good news...
We are currently finalising a 3" release with Centre Of Wood, and this record has been a long time coming. Excitement abounds within the Beggin' Your pardon Miss Joan camp and Vanessa has really pulled out some stunning artwork (which we will try and post soon)
As an intro to the blog I have made one of the new tracks from the forthcoming e.p available for download. You can get the track, which is called 'Vacuum' by clicking the link at the bottom of the post. I hope you dig!" beggin' your pardon miss joan

beggin' your pardon miss joan

"Stunning second release from Strawberry Hill dwellers Beggin' Your Pardon Miss Joan. After recently having their debut self released album re-issued by Reverb Worship, Beggin' Your Pardon Miss Joan have further extended their twisted blues and drone folk stylings, hidden beneath layers of dust and haze, like the sun blazing through a cloud of smoke. Short, but oh so very sweet, a perfect summer adventure companion. Play loudly.

Packaged in hand stamped recycled card sleeve, with window for artwork and textured paper insert. Edition of 50." dead pilot records

beggin' your pardon miss joan / luminous craft

beggin' your pardon miss joan - dear nautilus (reverb worship, 2008)

"We are an amorphous group, psychonauts who began recording in December 2007. Our music is determined by our surroundings, sometimes quiet, sometimes not so quiet. We thrive off fuzz, harmonies and repetition. If you dig on what we do, jump in, come join us."

luminous craft - 4 jar ep (pirate and cowboy, 2007)

beggin' your pardon miss joan - red dusk
